Lay Readers, Chalicists, Greeters and Lay Eucharistic Ministers

Lay Readers, Chalicists, Greeters and Lay Eucharistic Ministers
LAY READERS AND CHALICISTS

St. John's now has twenty-one parishioners who serve as Lay Readers and Chalice Bearers. At the 8 o'clock Sunday service, one reader reads the Old Testament lesson, the Psalm and the Epistle. The lay reader also leads the Prayers of the People. The lay reader may also serve as the chalice bearer at the 8 o'clock service. At the 10 o'clock service, three people assist, two to read the Old Testament lesson and the Epistle and to lead the Prayers of the People, and one as chalice bearer.

GREETERS
The Greeters are the face of St. John s on Sunday morning, welcoming both visitors and members of the Parish at the door. In addition, the Greeters are responsible for counting the number of people present in the congregation, in order to assist the Priest in preparing the Eucharistic offering. The Greeters also collect the Offering and function as ushers at the Eucharist by directing people to the Altar in a steady flow.

LAY EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS (LEM S)
The role of LEMS at St. John s is extremely important. It is the way members of our community of faith who are unable to attend Sunday services can receive the Eucharist and continue to feel a part of the Body of Christ. It is also an opportunity for the congregation to keep abreast of what is happening in the lives of our parishioners who may be ill, infirm or isolated so that we can know how we can more fully serve their needs.
