WARDEN: HOLLY FLOR
Holly was born in New York City and graduated from the University of California. She and her husband, Rudy Mangels, have had a home in Roxbury, Connecticut, for nearly thirty-five years. Holly worked in major advertising agencies for twenty-five years and currently manages family properties and investments. She and Rudy have two children, Matthew (deceased) and Bradaigh. In addition to serving on the vestry, Holly's other community involvements include service as a Trustee and Board member of New Milford Hospital. She has also served on the Parent boards of the Groton School and Princeton University and on the Board of Rumsey Hall School. Holly and Rudy were married at St. John's and have been communicants for over thirty years. Rudy is a former Navy pilot and retired American Airlines Captain and has sung in the St. John's Choir and Chorale for many years.

WARDEN: KENNETH HECKEN
A graduate of Cornell University, Ken Hecken enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the insurance industry, retiring in 1991 as Vice Chairman of Johnson & Higgins, a New York based insurance brokerage company. Active in a number of civic, charitable and community organizations, Ken has worked on behalf of the American Cancer Society and the United Way. Ken draws on a wealth of experience having served on the vestry at his previous parish, St. George's in Hempstead, Long Island. He and his wife, Audrey, who have three daughters and two grandsons, joined St. John's church in 1967. During the 70s and 80s Ken served sixteen years on the Vestry, including nine years as Warden.

TREASURER: TOM DANIELS
Tom and his wife Betty have week-ended and lived in Washington for twenty five years. Both of their children graduated from Taft. Tom has served on the Vestry twice and as Warden during the Fr. Nargesian-Fr. Ficks transition as well as on the Finance Committee for several years. Twice a governor of the Washington Club he is a past president of VNA Northwest and the Laurel bank fishing club. A Chartered Financial Analyst, he is a Vice President-Investments with Wells-Fargo Securities in Danbury.

ASSISTANT TREASURER: W. RUSS ELGIN
Russ was born and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He received his B.A. in Spanish from Westminster College, having spent a junior year semester studying in Puebla, Mexico. Graduate studies at Middlebury College were interrupted by the draft and he spent 3 years in the army serving as a Chinese linguist. After the service he completed his M.A. with a year's residence in Madrid, Spain. Russ joined the staff of The Gunnery in 1975 where, in addition to teaching Spanish, he has also run a dormitory, been a department chair, and coached baseball, cross country, ice hockey, and golf. He is presently the Senior Master and manages the Linen Rink. During his free time he likes to travel around the USA - he has been in every the states with the exception of Alaska, and has spent a lot of time in Spain and Mexico. At Saint John's Russ serves as a lay reader and chalicist and currently chairs the Hull Scholarship committee.

CLERK OF THE VESTRY: JOAN BEATTIE
Joan Beattie lives in Warren with her two dogs, a golden retriever and a standard poodle. She recently retired as head of the English Department at Kent School but continues as the editor of the Kent Quarterly. At St. John's she serves as a chalicist and lay reader.

PENNY BARDEL
Penny Bardel, a graduate of Radcliffe College and Harvard Law School, practiced law initially at Simpson, Thacher and Bartlett in New York; then for twenty years occupied various senior legal and administrative positions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the last eight as Associate Director. In 1994 she and her husband, Bill, moved to The Lawrenceville School in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he became Chief Financial Officer, and Penny joined the English Department faculty, becoming head of V Form English, Director of the Visiting Princeton Lecture Series and Director of the School-wide Public Speaking Program. Penny and Bill have recently retired from Lawrenceville, and now divide their time between their long-time homes in Washington and New York. Penny has been a member of St. John's since 1968.

ANN M. BURTON
Ann Burton holds a bachelor s degree in History from Duke University; a master s in History from the University of Michigan, and was awarded a D. Phil in History from St. Anne's College at Oxford University. She served as Professor and Chairman of the Department of History at Brooklyn College, City University of New York, and was also Dean of the Arts and Science Administration at New York University. She is now Professor Emeritus, Brooklyn College. She has served in a number of state and local community outreach organizations, including a three-year term as President of the Connecticut Community Foundation. In recent years she has been active in the local community serving as a Trustee at the Gunn Memorial Library and as Chairman of the Washington Republican Town Committee. She is currently a member of the board of the After School Arts Program and also the Judea Garden. Ann is very much involved in the life of St. John s Church. A nineteen-year veteran of the Altar Guild she currently holds the position of Directress of the Altar Guild. With Isabel and Winston Fowlkes she also coordinates the annual Holiday Bazaar, a major fund-raising opportunity for the parish. She has previously served on the Vestry here at St. John s and held the office of Warden from 1991 to 1996.

LISA GORRIVAN
A member of St. Johns for several years, Lisa and her husband, Philip, have two children, Isabelle and Charlie, and reside in Washington on weekends. In addition to serving on the Vestry, Lisa is a Lay Reader and Chalicist at the 10 o'clock service. Lisa works at Deutsche Bank in New York City where she is head of Global Liquidity for the Transaction Bank division. She is active in various arts and charitable organization, including the Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club and The Frick Collection. Her husband Philip is president of an interior design firm in New York City.

HELEN GRAY
Helen was born in New York City and attended the Oldfields School and Vassar College. "Every summer that I can remember was spent in Washington where my parents rented houses until finally buying the Trowbridge house on the Roxbury Road in 1939." An active member of St. John's since she and Wallace returned to Washington in 1967, she has served on the Vestry and was a Warden and a member of the Seminarian Support Group, the Outreach Committee and sang in the choir. Always interested in education, Helen was prominent in the Washington Montessori School when its home was the basement of St. John's and served as its second chair. She was also chairman of the Board of Trustees of Oldfields School in Maryland. She and Wallace have been married for 49 years and have a daughter, Carla. Helen's brother, John, was a postulant for Holy Orders from St. John's and is now a retired priest who lives in Princeton, New Jersey.

ANN HODGMAN
Ann Hodgman grew up in Rochester, New York. After college, she and her husband David Owen lived in New York City until 1985, when they moved to Washington. Their daughter, Laura, is 25; their son, John, is 22. Both children attended Chase Collegiate School, where Ann is now in her sixth year as a trustee. They also attended St. John's Sunday School, which Ann taught for ten years. She has served twice on the Vestry, once as Junior Warden, has helped with the Larder at the Bazaar for many years, and has been a member of the choir since 2002. Ann has written many children's books as well as three cookbooks; a new kids' book is due to be published in the fall, and a new cookbook in fall 2011. She has a bunch of pets and plays goalie year-round for several area ice hockey teams.

JOHN ADAMS MAGEE
Born in Bucks County, Pennsylvania John is a graduate of the Berkshire School and Dartmouth College and holds a master's degree in English from Middlebury College. He was a member of the faculty of the Lawrenceville School for ten years before moving to the business world first as Assistant Corporate Secretary at Discount Corporation of New York and then as Managing Director of Discount Corporation of New York (London) Ltd. After eighteen years with Discount, John joined Aubrey G. Lanston, Inc. as Senior Vice President and Sales Manager. He finished his business career with Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. In 2005 John returned to teaching at the Taft School where he is a member of the English Department, the Admissions Committee, and a coach of football and lacrosse. He loves golf and fly fishing. He and his wife Susie have four grown daughters and seven grandchildren and live in Bethlehem, Connecticut.

ELIZABETH DUUS O'CONNOR
Liz O'Connor was only 12 when she first moved to Washington and began attending the church. Father Nargesian was the Rector at that and his daughter Jennifer was a good friend. Liz and her husband, Tom, were married at St. John's by Father Ficks and are now the proud parents of two girls, Gillian and Sydney. While Liz continues to divide her time between Washington and New York City where she is building the Commercial market for Waterworks, the family has made Washington its full-time home and the girls attend school locally. Liz has served on the Board of Directors for the YMCA of Greater New York and also Rumsey Hall School, where she is an alumnus, as well as numerous professional organizations.

RICHARD REESE
After graduating from Kenyon College in 1966, Dick and his wife, Lee, spent five years at the Hoosac School, where he ended up with a master from Wesleyan University. Later he served on the Board of Trustees for twenty-five years. Leaving Hoosac, he went to the Harvard Business School, then had a thirty-plus year career in financial services. In the mid-nineties, the couple s older daughter and her husband started their careers at the Rumsey Hall School. Dick and Lee followed them by retiring to Litchfield in 1997 where Dick has since joined the Board of Governors of the Litchfield Country Club. They also have an older son and younger daughter and five grandchildren.

CHRISTOPHER SMITH
Since graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, Chris has worked in a number of different fields and owned a variety of companies. He is currently Chairman and owner of Environmental Security, Inc. d/b/a Shred It Connecticut, a company offering secure onsite document destruction. He is very much involved with community organizations, serving on the boards of the Children's Center in New Milford and the Susan B. Anthony Project in Torrington among others. His interests include golf, gardening and learning to sail. Chris and his wife, Marlene, joined St. John's church fourteen years ago. They have four children and four grandchildren.
