Rector’s
Message
Dear
Friends,
As I
look back over my Rector’s Message in
previous January editions of The Eagle, I am struck by the frequency
with which
it has been given over to thanking those in the Parish who have worked
so hard
to ensure that the services of Christmas took place as they should. I would be hard put not to write in the same
vein yet again this year, for the undertaking is a huge one, and it
takes a
remarkable number of hands and hearts to affect it.
In fact,
it would be wrong not to note all
the work that goes into the service of Lessons and Carols on the second
Sunday
of Advent and the Christmas Pageant on the week before Christmas and
finally
the glorious services of Christmas Eve.
To seek
to enumerate accurately all those
who contributed to these efforts would be impossible but I use the
space
allotted to me in The Eagle to offer my deep and abiding thanks to
every one of
you who gave so much of yourselves to ensure that those Liturgies help
prepare
us for and then, rejoice in, Christ’s incarnation.
Yours were gifts of love and caring and they
mean a very great deal.
Thank
you from the bottom of my heart. It is a
humbling experience to be allowed to
journey with so many who care so very much.
Faithfully,
The Revd
RL Ficks III, Rector

Stewardship
For the year 2005
~ In late-October you should have received the request of the Vestry
for your
support of Saint John’s Operating Budget during fiscal year 2005. If you have not yet done so, we ask that you
take time to review this request with care and prayerfully make the
decision
regarding how you will respond. Your
support of Saint
John’s is
essential to
our continued strength, and we pray that your response will be generous. If you did not receive this letter and wish
to receive one, please call the Office (868-2527) and let us know. We will send it right along.
Loaves
and Fishes
~ Saint
John’s is next
scheduled to serve at Loaves and Fishes on
January 21st. Please sign up on the Parish Hall bulletin board to help
and pick
up a pan from the table in the Parish Hall, fill it with a hearty
concoction,
and return it to Saint
John’s no
later than Noon on the
21st. You
may also feel free to bring the pan back at any time convenient for you
prior
to that and put it in the refrigerator or freezer as may be most
appropriate.
Confirmation ~ On
Saturday,
June 4th, Confirmation will be offered for members of this
Parish.
If you have a child in his or her thirteenth year or up who might wish
to be
confirmed at this next opportunity or are an adult who would wish to be
confirmed or reaffirm their baptismal promises in the presence of the
Bishop,
please give the Rector a call (868-2527) and let him know of your
interest. We
will begin to work out a schedule of meetings in preparation for this
event
once we have a better idea how many might wish to be involved.
